    Selecting a Contractor

When it comes down to deciding who is best able to fulfil your stainless steel and glass balustrades, pool fencing, and staircase requirements, we highly recommend you perform a little due diligence. To this end, we have shared some of the many frequently asked questions concerning this highly crucial phase in the planning of your project.
We can’t profess to have all of the answers, but we do consider that our extensive industry experience and outstanding success record in exceeding our customer’s expectations gives us some credence. Take a look through the list of questions below and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries.

Questions To Consider Before You Select Your Contractor:

    1. Does the company have the correct Building Services Authority (BSA) licences to complete your project?
They must hold a current BSA licence and readily display their licence number on all quotes, invoices, business cards, website and all other marketing material. Secondly, check that the licence number corresponds to the company in question; that it is current; and that it is appropriate for the kind of work to be carried out. A licence check can be completed at: http://www.bsa.qld.gov.au/SearchForLicensee/SearchBSALicensee.aspx

    2. What is the company's reputation like? How long has the company been in business?
What is their relationship like with their past clients? Do they have testimonials readily available and are happy to show their workmanship? Innovative Stainless Steel Designs has been in operation since August 2002, specialising in pool fencing and internal and external balustrading within the building industry. We complete projects for government, private commercial, and residential sectors and have an enviable reputation within the industry.

    3. Does the company have the correct insurances and adequate coverage in case of damage or accident?
A building contractor must be fully insured with at least workers' compensation and public liability insurances. If not, you could be vulnerable should any accidents or injuries occur during or after construction. Innovative Stainless Steel Designs is correctly insured as per legal requirements. Workplace Health and Safety audits are completed regularly at the workshop and onsite to ensure the safety of our employees, customers and general public.

    4. Do the company's installers and manufacturing staff hold relevant and current Australian Trade Qualifications?
Innovative Stainless Steel Designs does not subcontract and all our employees hold the correct qualifications for the scope of work that we offer.

    5. Will the company provide a form 16 Compliance Certificate or Form 15 glazing certificate as required to pass final building certification?
Without these certificates, your certifier will not endorse the final certificate for your project. Upon completion of your project, Innovative Stainless Steel Designs can supply you with the relevant Australian Standard compliant certificates for the products we supply and install.

    6. Can the company provide you with a milling certificate to guarantee that the stainless steel you have purchased is in fact 316 marine grade stainless steel?
Many companies claim to use 316 marine grade stainless, but only a Milling Certificate will prove this claim. If the stainless steel is not up to standards, 'tea staining' will occur, tarnishing your product and resulting in endless cleaning and maintenance. Innovative Stainless Steel Designs only uses the highest quality and grade stainless steel to ensure your project stands the test of time in finish, look and strength and we can provide you with a certificate to prove it.
